We have the pleasure to introduce to you BCBC’s Partners Ghent University. Gent University is an open, pluralistic and socially engaged university (45000 students). UGent offers over 200 programmes (including 64 English-taught master’s programmes) and conducts in-depth research within a wide range of scientific domains. The UGent credo is “Dare to Think“, the university is a haven for courageous thinkers! Becoming the technology capital of Europe is the City of Ghent’s top priority and Ghent University plays a vital role in this strategy. The Tech Lane Ghent Science Park is a vibrant ecosystem of international corporate R&D centers, public research institutes and high-tech growth enterprises, providing a stimulating environment to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. Next to the campuses in Ghent, Ostend, Courtrai and Bruges, UGent is the first European university with a branch campus on biotech in Songdo, South Korea. Ghent University recently established a North America Platform, presided by Prof. Rik Van de Walle (Rector of Ghent University) underlining the institutional importance the university attaches to the collaboration with US and Canada. UGent is constantly looking for additional education and research collaboration opportunities in the region. Moreover, the platform acts proactively in seeking and consolidating synergies with knowledge institutions and the business world. By joining BCBC, UGent underlines its eagerness to engage with companies, institutions, and alumni in Canada.
